Cyrano De Bergerac (Cyrano Rock)

Edmond Rostand's world-renowned classic, Cyrano de Bergerac (Cyrano Rock), has been reimagined by Kemal Başar with an interactive, contemporary, and musical approach. This production serves as a manifesto, challenging the current world order where virtue, pride, and ethics are disregarded, and also highlighting various corrupt practices within the theatrical world.

The internationally renowned director and actor, Kemal Başar, received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Üstün Akmen Special Award in 2024 for his contributions to the theater and for successfully promoting Turkish theater abroad. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Anadolu Awards for his achievements abroad. In the play, which he directed, designed the stagecraft for, and played the role of Cyrano, the performance was recognized as the best ensemble performance of the season in 2024, and Kemal Başar received the award for best director for two separate years in 2025.

The work has also garnered significant interest abroad. It was featured as a main performance at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Romania in 2025. Its participation in the Seoul International Festival has been confirmed. It was specially invited to the prestigious BABEL Festival, one of the world's most respected international theatre festivals, and was included in its main program. Its international tour is ongoing.

Cyrano, a renowned and feared swordsman, is also a talented poet and orator. However, he is insecure about his large nose. He is deeply in love with Roxanne. Roxanne, in turn, is in love with Christian, a young and handsome officer in the guards regiment, and she asks Cyrano for help. Despite his deep love for Roxanne, Cyrano, a virtuous man, does everything he can to help them be together.
