ÇİÇU
"A person should at least have someone to argue with; even arguing can be a source of happiness."
Living in an old apartment in Istanbul, trying to create and live within the boundaries of a world of her own making.
The story of a solitary man lays bare the human need for love, understanding, and belonging. As his connections to the outside world weaken, the man imbues his possessions with life, forms imaginary relationships, and creates a life for himself with a girlfriend he calls "Çiçu." However, every step he takes to escape his loneliness only leads him deeper into the labyrinth of his own inner world. In this world where reality and fantasy, love and habit, freedom and captivity blur together, the question becomes increasingly profound: is humanity's greatest fear being alone, or feeling alone even when surrounded by others? "Sometimes, people are not tired of loneliness itself, but of not being able to find someone to share their loneliness with." "ÇİÇU" showcases Aziz Nesin's keen observational skills, social satire, and the inherent contradictions of human nature. It portrays loneliness not just as a personal experience, but as an invisible cage we build ourselves. Through a tragicomic narrative, the play reveals the human struggle with one's own loneliness, highlighting the fragile line between being loved and understood, and between possessing someone and truly connecting with them.
