Ceza Kanunu
Amberi Bey, a wealthy and unfaithful man, was at his girlfriend's house when the police raided the premises. After he slapped a police officer, he was brought to court and sentenced to one month in prison. Fearing that his wife would find out, Amberi desperately sought a solution. He arranged for his school friend, Irfan, to take his place in prison, in exchange for a large sum of money.
"Ceza Kanunu" (Criminal Code), adapted by İbnürrefik Ahmet Nuri (the Eighth) from a French farce (G. Courteline's "Vingt Jours a l'Ombe"), is a comedic play set in 1920s Istanbul, depicting lives filled with deception, a distorted social order, and a flawed justice system.
