Çalıkuşu

The novel Çalıkuşu, written by Reşat Nuri Güntekin, tells the story of Feride (Çalıkuşu), a young woman with a childlike spirit who, after learning that her fiancé has betrayed her on their wedding day, flees Istanbul for Anatolia and tries to build a life of her own by working as a teacher for the sake of her ideals—a story of growing up, maturing, and finding her great love.
