Bir Delinin Hatıra Defteri
A MADMAN'S DIARY.
Experience this timeless masterpiece by Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol in a black and white production by Siyah Beyaz Yapım, featuring a performance by Erdoğan Karagöz. Alparslan Mehmet Bıyık, who brilliantly portrayed Popriçev on stage for six seasons, takes on the role of director this time.
The play tells the story of a common civil servant whose idealized love for a bourgeois woman is shattered when he discovers she is in love with a nobleman. His dreams are then redirected, leading him to become obsessed with a noble young man, aspiring to become a king. Ultimately, he descends into madness and is institutionalized, ending up in a mental asylum, where he believes himself to be the "King of Spain."
The play tells the story of Aksenti Ivanovich Poprishchin, a charming but somewhat hapless seventh-grade clerk, who is caught in a power dynamic and struggles with class conflict, feeling trapped in a limited environment. The play's character, Aksenti Ivanovich Poprishchin, is sometimes humorous, and at other times, he confronts the audience directly, forcing them to contemplate the question, "What makes you different from me?" within a dramatic framework.
