Metin Zakoğlu's performance of "A Madman's Diary" begins with a reference to "Gogol the Thief," and then things become confusing. Zakoğlu, who claims the stories belong to him but were stolen, suddenly makes the audience see the characters from his stories. The man standing in the corner becomes the section leader, the girl sitting in front is his girlfriend, Sofia, and another woman looking bewildered from the sides is seen as his maid, Mavra. The actor, who is genuinely experiencing schizophrenia, presents a performance where you, the audience, come to watch someone play a madman, but you end up encountering a real madman, and that's when the show truly begins. The lines between who is mad, who is sane, who is the audience, and who is the performer become blurred. Sometimes you find yourself laughing uncontrollably while listening to Gogol's stories, and then suddenly you start crying, leaving you wondering what's happening.

You're sure to appreciate Metin Zakoğlu's interactive and modern interpretation, which stands in contrast to the repetitive Gogol interpretations you might have encountered. There are no lights, no set design, no music, and no curtain; just you and one actor.
