The play, written by Nobel Prize laureate Dario Fo, is set in Milan in 1969.
A bomb explodes near Duomo Square, killing 16 people. The police and a segment of the pro-government media attempt to portray the incident as the act of "left-wing anarchists." The police immediately blame anarchists for the explosion and arrest Giuseppe Pinelli. After three days of interrogation, Pinelli is found dead on the sidewalks in front of the police headquarters building. The police claim that the anarchist "accidentally" fell from the fifth floor of the building during interrogation. At the same time, a man described as a "mad genius" is brought to the same building for questioning...
That's how events often unfold at the police station. In his plays, Dario Fo, the "theatrical caricaturist," always depicts real-life events, and in this instance, he transforms a real incident into a play, creating a dark comedy through dramatic interrogation scenes.
Event Type: Comedy.
Duration: 120 minutes.
