Ben Anadolu
"I am Anatolia." It's the story of a woman, spanning from mythology to the Republic, and it's also the story of a country. Her voice echoes for thousands of years in the heart of Anatolia... Beneath the earth, there are gods; in palaces, queens; on battlefields, commanders; and on podiums, wise women, all speaking.
They all say, "I am Anatolia."
Güngör Dilmen's unforgettable text brings the suppressed voices of women throughout history to the center of the stage, as one actor embodies nine different women. This journey, spanning from mythology to the Republic, brings together the breath of Cybele shaping the earth, the hands of Puduhepa sealing peace, the transforming body of Nilüfer Hatun, the courageous spirit of Kara Fatma, and the enlightened resistance of Bahriye Üçok and Türkan Saylan, all within the same narrative.
"Anadolu" is not just a play; it's an echo resonating from the ancient memory of Anatolia: a story of the land, of voices, of creation, of resistance, and of rebirth. It's the story of a country shaped by the voice of women. Through the breath of a woman, the history of a nation comes alive on stage.
