ANGELIN PRELJOCAJ'S "SWAN LAKE"
December 10-12, 2026 | Zorlu Performing Arts Center | 8:30 PM
Swan Lake by Angelin Preljocaj. Like You've Never Seen It Before.
Angelin Preljocaj, one of the world's most important contemporary choreographers, whose works have been created for leading institutions such as the Paris Opera Ballet, New York City Ballet, and La Scala, is reimagining Swan Lake, the timeless masterpiece of ballet history, with a captivating and thought-provoking interpretation.
The elegance of classical ballet meets the freedom and power of contemporary dance. Tchaikovsky's unforgettable music blends with electronic music, stunning stage design, and a captivating visual world, inviting the audience to experience Swan Lake in a way that goes far beyond the traditional.
A modern fairy tale about love, betrayal, power, and the future of nature.
Angelin Preljocaj brings the timeless story of Odette and Siegfried, which has captivated audiences for generations, to the modern world.
This time, Odette is a young woman who is passionate about environmental conservation, while Siegfried is the son of a powerful executive at a company that sells oil drilling platforms. Rothbart, who discovers valuable fossil fuel resources around the lake, is a ruthless businessman and also a sorcerer, determined to seize these lands. He transforms Odette into a swan through magic, fearing that she might thwart his plans.
Staying true to the magic and core story of the classic work, Preljocaj brings this timeless love story together with the environmental and social issues of our time. The Swan Lake is now a symbol not only of love and magic, but also of nature that needs to be protected.
A captivating story of light and darkness, of nature and power, and of love and freedom.
Tchaikovsky's timeless compositions are complemented by 79D's electronic music, while Boris Labbé's video designs, Éric Soyer's lighting, and Igor Chapurin's costumes create a stunning visual world on stage. Preljocaj's unique choreographic language, fueled by dreamlike imagery and sensuality, comes to life through the extraordinary performances of 26 dancers.
From the world's stages to Istanbul.
Angelin Preljocaj, who blends the classical ballet tradition with the language of contemporary dance, holds a significant place in the international dance world thanks to his original choreography and powerful stage presence.
