Ahmet Kaya ile Kardeş Türküler
AHMET KAYA AND KARDEŞ TÜRKÜLER ON STAGE!
Kardeş Türküler will meet audiences at home and abroad through Ahmet Kaya’s songs and voice, marking the 40th year of his artistic career and the 25th anniversary of his passing.
The concerts will bring together Ahmet Kaya’s stance, which embraced every segment of society, with Kardeş Türküler’s understanding of living together with our differences. They will feature primarily songs reflecting “human stories.” The concerts will also reflect Ahmet Kaya’s courage to transcend cultural boundaries, the original sound he created while blending different musical traditions, and Kardeş Türküler’s culturally pluralistic approach, which gives space to the different voices and languages of this geography. There will also be special surprises.
Kardeş Türküler draws attention to the multilayered richness of Ahmet Kaya’s music, saying: “His works bring together a wide variety of musical elements, from the fine-string-instrument tradition of the Malatya/Elazığ region to Azerbaijani music, Abdal music, the Kurdish dengbêj tradition, arabesque, alaturka, and rock. We, too, will embrace this richness through our polyphonic structure shaped by a culturally pluralistic approach. We will reinterpret the different cultural elements in his songs, emphasizing them sometimes with traditional instruments and sometimes through original arrangements. Our aim is to make the musical bridge he created even more visible and to always bring his songs together with peace and brotherhood.”
