"The Grand Finale with Bach"
The closing concert of the 7th International Opus Amadeus Organ Festival will once again offer valuable music lovers an unforgettable organ performance.
Throughout his international career, András Gábor Virágh, one of the most distinguished composers and organ virtuosos of contemporary Hungarian music, has received numerous prestigious awards. In his first concert in Turkey, he promises a remarkable organ journey, spanning from the splendor of the French Baroque period to the exquisite works of Bach, Buxtehude, and Mozart, and encompassing the poeticism of the Romantic era to contemporary Hungarian music.
András Gábor Virágh, the renowned organist of Budapest's most magnificent and iconic structure, the St. Stephen's Basilica, presented a program for the Opus Amadeus Organ Festival. The program began with the world-renowned "Te Deum" Prelude by the French Baroque composer Marc Antoine Charpentier, and included Johann Sebastian Bach's beloved organ works, such as the Prelude and Fugue in C Major, and a selection of his beautiful chorale preludes, including "Das alte Jahr vergangen ist" (The Old Year Has Passed).
A very elegant church sonata by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart...
Franz Liszt's "Ave Maria" and his deeply emotional No. 4 Consolation...
Here is the English translation: A piece from the Baroque period, showcasing one of its most sublime and magnificent voices: Dietrich Buxtehude's Chaconne in E minor...
Our concert's soloist, András Gábor Virágh, performed an "Impromptu" piece, creating a passionate connection between the past and the present.
... And, as the final piece of both the night and the festival, Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, one of the most recognizable masterpieces for organ, will bring the closing concert to a breathtaking climax.
