ACT Night: Robinson Khoury MŸA "Transara"

Trombonist and composer Robinson Khoury is one of the rising names on France’s jazz scene in recent years. Known for his eclectic approach, Khoury came to prominence several years ago through his work with Ibrahim Maalouf and Natacha Atlas; he then performed as a soloist with the Metropole Orkest and joined the Quincy Jones Orchestra in 2019. With his new project MŸA, the musician embarks on a musical search toward the organic origins of life, exploring ancient rhythms and timbres within electro-acoustic soundscapes shaped by a modular synthesizer. At the heart of MŸA, which draws on the jazz tradition and Middle Eastern maqams, are the group’s wordless vocals. In Mart 2025, Khoury received the Prix Django Reinhardt, one of the most prestigious awards in the French jazz world, and was named jazz musician of the year. His 2026 album Transara is described as “a gateway to an unseen world; inviting the listener on a journey extending beyond the boundaries of consciousness.” Robinson Khoury MŸA will be at Komünite on 30 Eylül as part of the ACT Night series, brought to life through the 36th Akbank Caz Festivali’s collaboration with ACT Music.
