In the near future... We live in a world ravaged by the climate crisis! Something apocalyptic has happened, but it's not quite the end of the world. Instead, nomadic communities known as "The Parasites" have emerged – groups that no country wants. One boy, named Diyar, is one of the storytellers of this new society. Every evening, he gathers around the fire with the Parasites and, accompanied by his darbuka drum, he tells stories about the early days of the catastrophe.
A story of betrayal!
The early days of the climate crisis! We are in Istanbul! A major uprising, accompanied by growing hunger and famine! A conservative movement that is exploiting the crisis: Izan! A mysterious and "strange" girl who will change the entire story of Diyar: Leyla!
In times of major disasters, diseases, migrations, rising temperatures, hunger, and thirst, one question becomes more important than all others: As the world we know slips away, who will we hold onto, and who will we walk alongside?
"That night, the first explosions erupted! The ground shook beneath our feet! We went outside! The sky was a hellish red! Everything was ablaze! They must have detonated bombs in at least 30 different places across Istanbul!" "They're coming," Leyla said. There was something so strange in her voice... a mix of fear, but not quite fear. "Who's coming?" I asked, but she didn't answer. She didn't even look back. I looked at her, though. The flames reflected in her face. Her black hair was glowing red. The fire swirled in her eyes like a vortex. I forgot about the fire, about everything. Because that's what love is: to be able to look at just one person while entire cities burn."
