The Digital Experience Center, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Culture Inc., is bringing the exhibition "Timeless Japan: A Dreamscape" to visitors, showcasing the enduring beauty of Japanese culture through the lens of digital technology.
"Dreams of Time: Japan" exhibition offers a multi-sensory exploration of the visual world of traditional Japanese arts, shaped over centuries, through the technologies of the Digital Experience Center. The "floating world" of Ukiyo-e, the dreamlike entities of Yōkai tales, and the aesthetic language of pattern and craft culture are reinterpreted through dynamic visuals, location-specific video narratives, interactive surfaces, and physical-digital installations.
The "Timeless Dreams: Japan" exhibition transforms 300 years of modern Japanese art into a contemporary visual narrative, taking viewers on a journey that spans centuries, from the distant past to the present day.
The scenes, strategically placed throughout the space, transport visitors to a collective imagination of Japan, inspired by the works of 17th-19th century Japanese printmakers: it begins with the ephemeral beauty of nature and landscapes, then evolves into a mysterious forest, and delves deeper into the realm of folklore and the spirits known as Yōkai...
