12 TANIRININ EVİ OLYMPUS DAĞI TIRMANIŞI

     

      The countdown has begun for our event where we will indulge in the sea and nature, as well as mountaineering as a sporting activity.   

   

         

 

As the Mountaineering Branch of Istanbul Nature Sports Club, we have organized a climbing event to Mount Olympus, the source of Greek Mythology. Not only will we climb Mount Olympus, but we will also spend a day by the sea and then have a 2-night stay in a mountain house, where we will summit Olympus, Mytikas, Skolio, and Skala peaks. On the way back, prepare for a wonderful trip in Priona, making it an amazing 4 days.

With a height of 2918 m, this mountain is the highest peak in Greece and has many routes, some of which are not easy and can even be considered difficult. The peaks, known as the source of Greek Mythology and the home of the 12 Gods, are present here. We will try to crown our event with 3-4 summits on Mount Olympus, which has 52 peaks over 2500 meters, making it the highest peak in Greece after Turkey and Iran.

We will participate in this event with our own vehicle, and therefore, if a second vehicle is available, we can increase the quota.

 

 

                                                                

On the night of September 18, Friday, around 23:00, we will meet at the designated route in Istanbul and set off.

On September 19, Saturday, after a 9-hour journey, we will head towards our hotel. In the afternoon, we will settle into our hotel and enjoy the sun by the sea and beach with a view of Mount Olympus. Overnight accommodation will be at the hotel. 

On September 20, Sunday: After breakfast at the hotel, we may take a short break at the sea. In the afternoon, we will drive to the Priona area for mountain climbing. From there (1100 m.), we will ascend to 2000 meters with our backpacks. We will reach the Mountain House before the evening break and will stay overnight at the mountain house. This mountain house operates in a hostel style and has all kinds of amenities, but it is a bit more expensive than in the city. We will spend the night at the mountain house, enjoying the tranquility of the mountain air.

On September 21, Monday: We will set off for the summits before dawn. We will carry out our climb to the peaks of Olympus, Mytikas, Skolio, and Skala, including areas sometimes referred to as difficult ladders, at altitudes ranging from 2900 to 2918 meters. Our day will consist of climbing and descending the mountain, after which we will descend back to 2000 meters and stay overnight at the mountain house. 

On September 22, Tuesday: After breakfast at the mountain house, we will descend to the Priona area at 1100 meters. Here, we will take an 8 km walk through the nature walking area of Mount Olympus, including waterfalls and a hidden historical monastery. In the afternoon, we will settle into our hotel and enjoy the sun by the sea and beach. Overnight accommodation will be at the hotel.

On September 23, Wednesday: We will set off early in the morning towards the Meteora region, and after a 2-hour journey, we will head towards Istanbul in the evening. Depending on the midnight or customs traffic, we will be in Istanbul after midnight.

On September 24, Thursday, please keep your day free (who knows, we might extend it by adding a beach holiday).

 

                                

 

                                                         

 

We have tried to include the important historical and cultural features of the region in the 5-day program.

If there are enough participants for 2 vehicles, the costs remain the same. Participants coming with their own vehicles will not contribute to the cost.

* Be a member of the Istanbul Nature Sports Club, either officially or through the website

* Have a mountaineering license

* Not have any health issues, chronic diseases, or lack of fitness that would prevent participation in the event (Acclimatization climbs will be conducted before the event.)

* Have completed at least the SUMMER MOUNTAINEERING TRAINING from the Turkey Mountaineering Federation or club internal training; have at least 3000 meters of summit experience, experience in difficult hiking levels, and these must be approved by the event walking leaders.

* Have the technical equipment required for climbing (details are written in the equipment section).

THE EVENT WILL ONLY TAKE PLACE WITH A MINIMUM OF 3 PARTICIPANTS. THE LIMIT IS 8 PEOPLE.

THE EVENT MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGES IN THE PROGRAM BY THE EVENT RESPONSIBLE AND MOUNTAIN GUIDE DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, TEAM STATUS, OR OTHER REASONS.
