The uncompromising sludge metal band Mantar from Northern Germany is bringing its wild energy, which has shaken the European metal scene, to the Blind stage on October 13, 2026! Founded by Erinç Sakarya and Hanno Klänhardt in 2012, Mantar is now one of the first names that comes to mind when sludge metal is mentioned in many parts of Europe. The band achieved major success with its 2022 album “Pain Is Forever and This Is The End,” which climbed as high as No. 2 on the German charts, and now returns with a much darker and rawer spirit. With its new album “Post Apocalyptic Depression,” Mantar leaves the polished waters of production behind and returns to its roots, reviving its early, famous approach to “dirty and fast” music. In guitarist and vocalist Hanno’s words, these new tracks, recorded spontaneously and without a plan using equipment they found in the studio, represent the band’s simplest and most aggressive form to date. Mantar melts the muddy spirit of bands such as Melvins, Nirvana’s “Bleach” era, and Mudhoney into the crucible of modern metal, and is known for building a massive wall of sound onstage with only two people. After a difficult period in which Erinç and Hanno returned from the brink of breaking up, these new tracks were recorded almost as a form of spiritual healing. They possess a sound that renews Mantar’s identity and raises the band’s stage energy to the heights expected of them. Entering their fourteenth year, Mantar reinforces their career with their uncompromising and ferocious stance, and will be at Blind on October 13 for their second Istanbul concert. Far from grand promises, this gathering will take place solely in the spirit of pure, loud, and, in the band’s own words, “dark entertainment”—a collective release.
