Ulus Meydanı ve Zafer Anıtı

The equestrian statue of Atatürk at the centre, the Victory Monument of 1927, was the first landmark of the capital, and from here you can walk everywhere. Around the square stand the first parliament and the Sümerbank and İş Bankası buildings; the back streets hold jewellers, spice sellers and tradesmen's restaurants that fill up at lunchtime. Ulus metro station is right here. The citadel, Hacı Bayram and Gençlik Park are all within walking distance, so starting your day here is very practical.
