About Venue
Güdül is a small district town 90 km northwest of Ankara at 720 metres. The Kirmir stream runs along its northern edge; settlement here goes back to around 3000 BC, while the present town is credited to Güdül Bey in the Seljuk period. After a candidacy that began in 2016 it became Turkey's 18th Cittaslow town and the first in Ankara. Old Güdül houses inside the urban conservation area, living crafts such as chickpea roasting and knife making, and local dishes like kapama and höşmerim shape its character. A Cherry Festival is held in June and a Kapama Feast in July. It is the starting point for the roads to the Kirmir Valley, the İnönü Caves and Sorgun Lake.
