Gordion Ören Yeri ve Müzesi (Yassıhüyük)

Gordion, capital of the Phrygian kingdom, joined the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023; the excavated mound, the wooden burial chamber inside the 53-metre Midas Tumulus and the small but very well arranged Gordion Museum are all on a single ticket. The tunnel into the tumulus brings you face to face with one of the oldest standing wooden structures in the world. The steppe landscape along the Sakarya river is part of the visit, so take your time.
