About Venue
The three-block school building facing Sezenler Street in Sıhhiye was designed in 1937 by the German architect Bruno Taut with Franz Hillinger; blocks A and C were built in 1937-38, block B was added later to the original design, and the school, founded as a secondary school in 1886, moved in on 10 October 1940. On the east facade of the reinforced-concrete building, a raised plinth clad in Ankara stone, two rows of columns carrying a broad canopy and a ten-column canopy over the block C entrance stand out; rusticated ashlar runs to the plinth line, rough render above, and the roofs are tiled. As a working high school it can only be seen from outside.
