Polatlı Merkez, Alagöz, 06909 Polatlı/Ankara, Türkiye
Polatlı, Ankara

About Venue

In Ankara's Polatlı district, the Alagöz Headquarters Museum, one of the most important points where the Sakarya Battle was managed, is a historical place that witnessed one of the turning points of the War of Independence. This farmhouse, where Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk established his headquarters as the commander-in-chief during the Sakarya Battle, is now open to visitors as a museum.

The Sakarya Battle took place between August 23 and September 13, 1921, and was a critical battle in which the Turkish army transitioned from a defensive strategy to an offensive one. This farmhouse located in Alagöz Village has great historical significance as it is the place where prominent commanders of the War of Independence, such as Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha, Fevzi Çakmak, and İsmet İnönü, prepared their war plans.

The museum houses original items reflecting the spirit of the era, battle maps, military documents, and mementos such as the desk where Atatürk worked. Additionally, communication tools, weapons, and various visuals used during the war are also presented to visitors.

Today, this structure, which carries significant traces of the National Struggle, is a historical memory point for those who want to understand the difficulties faced in winning the War of Independence and the determination of the Turkish army. It is a museum that everyone who wants to grasp the importance of the Sakarya Battle and feel the atmosphere of that period in the place used as Atatürk's headquarters must visit.
