Yaralarım Aşktandır Oyunu

Nazan Kesal plays the powerful Iranian poet Furuğ Ferruhzad in the one-woman play My Wounds Are from Love.

 

Written by Şebnem İşigüzel and directed by Berfin Zenderlioğlu, the play brings to the theater stage the breath of Furuğ Ferruhzad, the rebellious voice of Iranian poetry.

 

The story told in the play, produced by Poyraz Yapım, is the story of all of us who bloom and fade in the same climate: those living under pressure, those always found lacking, and those who continue living despite everything and do not hold back their words. 

 

Furuğ Ferruhzad, waiting to be entrusted to the earth, whose dead body could not even be tolerated, will write the poem of her life in her own purgatory and whisper words you will never forget.

 

Furuğ comes to give us all courage,
to say, “The bird dies; remember its flight.”
