Contemporary Dance and Theatre Performance.
"Boundaries" is an interdisciplinary stage performance that brings together contemporary dance, theater, and textual narration, focusing on the visible and invisible boundaries that an individual establishes with themselves, with others, and with the world around them.
This performance, which unfolds through body, word, and movement, explores the boundaries that shape our lives, examining where they begin, where they end, and how they are sometimes transgressed.
The narrative extends from personal boundaries in family, love, friendship, and work life, to societal norms, gender roles, and learned behavioral patterns. It broadens further as it intersects with concepts of national borders, migration, and belonging.
"Boundaries," a five-part series, brings together diverse narrative styles to invite viewers on an emotional and intellectual journey of self-discovery. The first episode explores individual boundaries and the ability to say "no," while subsequent episodes delve into the influence of culture and geography on our behavior, gender roles, learned biases, healthy and unhealthy relationships, boundary violations, and the awareness of "being oneself."
The performance doesn't offer ready-made answers for the audience; instead, it opens up a space for reflection and questioning based on their own life experiences. Because the boundary is not just a physical line; it's a mental, emotional, and social construct.
With its non-judgmental, poetic, and heartfelt narrative, "Boundaries" invites us to connect with empathy through art, to re-examine our relationships, and to become more aware of our own boundaries.
