Sibel Köse “Vistula’dan Boğaz’a Uzanan Caz Köprüsü”

Since the early 1990s, Sibel Köse has cultivated strong ties with Poland, and within the framework of the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival, she is bringing together prominent figures from the Turkish and Polish jazz scenes in a special concert. Pianist Bogdan Hołownia is known for his masterful performances, theoretical works, and compositions dedicated to Polish composers. He is considered one of the most respected accompanists in the jazz world, known for giving soloists space and for his sophisticated harmonies. He will be accompanied by İmer Demirer, whose deep and insightful interpretations complement his playing. Wojciech Pulcyn, whose friendship with Demirer extends over many years, forms the backbone of the group on bass, while Cem Aksel, one of Turkey's most experienced rhythm masters, will be on drums. The group, which has come together in various projects before, will perform a repertoire that includes jazz standards as well as selected songs from "Kabaret Starszych Panów," a series of programs created by Jerzy Wasowski and Jeremi Przybora for Polish television between 1958 and 1966. With the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Istanbul, this gathering will take place on Sunday evening, October 4th, at the Akatlar Culture Center, creating a cultural bridge from Warsaw to Istanbul and inviting listeners to witness the unifying power of jazz across geographical boundaries.
