Borusan Story House connects with children aged 6-8 through its unique workshops held at Borusan Contemporary. Dramatic Games. Dr. Bahar Gürey, a leading figure in the field of expressive arts and a storyteller at the "Story House," designed a workshop that encourages children to view the city from a different perspective. The workshop was inspired by the "site-specific" series of photographs in the exhibition "Time, Space, Geometry" by Italian artist Olivo Barbieri, which uses the tilt-shift technique to present cities as if they were miniature models.
Dramatic Games. In the workshop, which utilizes artistic methods such as expressive play and creative dance, children use their bodies to bring to life buildings, squares, and bridges, inspired by Barbieri's cities, which transform into models when viewed from above. Through play and movement, they explore how a city can change when viewed from a different perspective.
At the end of the workshop, the children design their own cities by combining geometric shapes such as triangles, squares, rectangles, and circles, and they experience how a city can be built from their own perspectives.
About Borusan Story House:
The Borusan Story House, established by the Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation, is a unique and experience-based educational program focused on children's out-of-school learning. The program features interdisciplinary and innovative modules for children, content that includes families as well as teachers, and educational workshops that combine art with the development of children, particularly their psychosocial well-being. These workshops, which focus on areas such as expressive play, creative drama, and visual arts, use storytelling as a means of self-expression and understanding of life.
