Meçhul Paşa
-A Mischievous Publishing House-
"Unknown Pasha" is a delightful farce that recounts the fantastical diary of Marko Pasha, a legendary satirical newspaper.
The story of Markopaşa, Turkey's first satirical political newspaper, which was launched in 1946 by prominent writers Sabahattin Ali, Aziz Nesin, and Rifat Ilgaz, along with the cartoonist Mustafa Mim Uykusuz, and whose journey ultimately came to an abrupt and unknown end.
The story of truth, brought to life by a humble pen...
Despite the challenging conditions of the time, and with a small team of 7 names, 8 owners, 10 editors, 9 printing companies, and 10 address changes, a total of 77 issues were published, a feat that "even intimidated the giants" and demonstrated a commitment to publishing "whenever the opportunity arose."
As a result of the 16 lawsuits filed against these individuals, a total of 8 years and 2.5 months of imprisonment were served.
Three muses, having descended from the heavens, have shared their apples with the writers; whether they achieved their desires remains unknown, as one cannot see what happens behind closed doors.
"If you don't smile, you're in hell."
