KIRMIZI
RED, SEASON 2.
The play "Red," by American playwright John Logan, which depicts the relationship between painter Mark Rothko and his assistant, is coming to Bodrum for its second season.
The play, directed by Kayhan Berkin and starring Doruk Şengün, will be performed at İnspera on October 27th.
The play, set in New York in the late 1950s, focuses on the period when Mark Rothko was working on the murals he created for the Four Seasons restaurant in the Seagram Building, which was one of the most prestigious commissions of the time. The relationship between Rothko and his young assistant, initially a master-apprentice dynamic, evolves into a increasingly tense confrontation about the meaning of art, the artist's responsibility, success, money, and the rise of a new generation replacing the old.
In this exhibition, Kırmızı brings together theater and visual arts in the same space. The stage will be recreated as Mark Rothko's studio, featuring works specifically created for the play by 12 artists who live in Bodrum.
Thus, Kırmızı will not only host a theatrical performance, but also an exhibition that exists alongside the play.
