Beyaz Geceler

The narrator of this romantic love story is a young man in his twenties, quite dreamy and somewhat socially withdrawn. He wanders the streets of St. Petersburg during its "white nights," observing people and buildings with keen attention, making observations about them. One such night, he meets a young woman named Nastenka. They share their life stories with each other. The narrator gradually falls in love with Nastenka, but he hides his deep feelings. Nastenka, on the other hand, is madly in love with a man from the countryside who is her grandmother's tenant. The man tells her he will return from Moscow a year later for work, but he doesn't write a single letter... But then, things begin to change...
